Winterfield Golf Club Player Reports
Phil Snelman (England) 19/05/08
Played Winterfield in a fog which was a shame as it's a great little course. Although it's short the number of par 3's over 200 yards balances this up.
Some of the holes a bit boring and straight forward but all in all it's a good test.
The first is outstanding and would be a challenge for event the best professional's.
The green fee's were great as we used Open Fairway's two for one vouchers.
I would recommend Winterfield to anyone who is looking for a good challenge at a very reasonable price.

Played this course on 12 August 2007 in high winds.
Didn't do too badly. Have found a new favourite hole - 14th 202 yd par 3 with nothing down the left and to the back except rocks and sea, coupled with a super view of Bass Rock. 5 wood clouted downwind dropped nicely onto the green, but didn't roll too much towards the hole - still got par.
Hardest hole was the 12th especially playing into the wind, and with the pin set on the ridge that runs across the green.
Will play this again sometime - super course!

Played in a 2ball this summer and I can honestly say I've never enjoyed a round of golf as much in my life. There's just something about this place that you should go and see for yourself. To add to the day there were 3 small lads with a "golf ball shop" set up on one of the holes! Very impressive location for a coucil course.

If you have a few hours to sneak 18 holes in then this is the one for you and pretty cheap at £15. We got round in under 2 hours (with the use of a buggy). The course was lovely and empty in Mid May. The feature of this short course is the number of Par 3's over 200 yards which make scoring pretty tricky for the lower handicap player. The front 9 are more inland style but the back 9 is definatley links style with 1 truly great par 3 and a couple of lovely par 4's.

What can you say. A hidden gem, this course was a joy to play. If the winds blowing it is a great test of golf. The greens are tight but a joy to putt on. The views, oh the views, breathtaking is the word i think. This is worth a visit and if you do you are sure to return. I was so impressed that i would join the club in a flash. (shame i live so far away).
The catering was superb, nothing to much hassle.
Very friendly and welcoming.
I will return again and again.

Played in a fourball on 22/02/2001. Two of us from Glasgow along with two friends from Falkirk. We especially liked the back nine holes; some of them were really testing with the wind blowing hard. Greens in reasonable condition for the time
of year. Unfortunately, no catering available on the day. Will hopefully play again in the summer.
