Letham Grange Golf Course Player Reports

The course was a great challenge but in dire need of some maintenance.

The round tok ages as there seems to be no course ranger etc.

The food afterwards was poor with terrible service ( better going to McDonalds).

With the right staff this could be a real gem but they seemed to have a very lazy approach which was not professional.

it realy is a shame as the course has amazing potential in the right hands.

A simply stunning golf course. As part of a regular week away up north, it's usually on our itinery along with Downfield and Monifieth.

Only gripe is the distance between green and tee at some holes, so splash out on a buggy!!!

I'd read that Letham Grange was a hidden gem and I'm so glad I found it. What a brilliant course. Described in the course guide as the 'Augusta of Scotland' I expected something special and was in no way disappointed. This was a great challenge with some of the most spectacular holes that I've played (and I've played many championship courses over the last 30 years). With water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes you will need to keep it straight round here. The equivalent of Amen Corner round here is probably holes 8,9 and 10, truly magnificent scenery and very challenging golf holes. Don't miss this one whatever you do.

I played Letham Grange on Saturday 18th September and was quite disappointed. The course was in decent condition but is in dire need of some TLC to bring it back to its best. It was and has the potential to be a superb course again but lack of investment is starting to show. The buggy paths are full of weeds, the bridges are falling apart, and everything on the course is just a bit tatty. The clubhouse is a beautiful building but once you step inside its a total dump and the food was worse than awful. This is a magnificent course (Old Course) and a stunning old country house as the clubhouse, with a bit of investment it will be back to its best I'm sure but until then I would recommend giving it a miss to avoid disappointment.

Played the old course on Wednesday 1st September. After the spell of very wet weather we'd had i was expecting the fairways and greens to have suffered somewhat but the course was in superb nick. The fairways looked magnificent and the greens true. The six holes around the turn compare with anything i have played or seen. This course deserves to host a hi-profile tournament and as it now accepts 2 fore 1 vouchers represents superb value for money. V. highly recommended.

Our party played both courses Aug 00 on our golf holiday and throughly enjoyed it. A great package for 1 round on each. You could play holes 8, 9 and 10 of the old course all day and while the front 9 on the new course are nothing special, the holes across the road are better. All in all a great place for 2 rounds and a bite to eat.

Wow! What a lovely course. It has everything, water, tree's and fantastic scenery. The course plays magnificently and is a joy. If you are in the area do not miss it. The new course does not compare, so you may want to give that one a miss.

Letham Grange is a must play course any time I am in Scotland the Old course is an enjoyable challenge which test even the best of golfers the New whilst not as satisfying gives you the option of good game when you have less time to spare. don_strachan@adcorp.com.au
