I played Dalziel Park Golf club today, before playing my round i stopped at the bar for a hot roll and cup of tea to wait for my party. The staff were happy and helpfuland the decor inside was very impressive. The course was challenging yet playable for a mid handicapperlike myself. It was a wet day and the course held up to it very well. Overall impressions i was very pleased and i am looking into organising an other outing.

Played today. Positives were that the facilities are excellent (except the pro shop) and they were playing full greens, which is good at this time of year.

It's easy to see the difference between the new 9 holes and the original 9. The older 9 are OK and would make a nice little 9 hole course, having some mature trees.

The new layout betrays it's youth, being very flat and uninspiring with no interesting holes and no views. I have to say that they are quite a miserable golfing experience. Rather than properly design hazards they have simply used the drainage trenches as lateral water hazards.

Even given the time of year the greens weren't in great shape. Not terrible, but not good. Tees could have been better but the fairways were poor, which may well be down to the heavy clay soil that the course is built on. I had a very muddy round, and there are no ball washers at the the tees.

I would not rush out to pay 20 quid or more to play this course, but I can see the appeal for a middle-management corporate away-day, which I think is the market that this place is pitching at. It will take at least another 15 years for the new area to 'bed in' and the trees to grow. It might be worth a return visit in 2022.

Played today and thoroughly enjoyed this course. It is in good condition and has some interesting holes on a parkland setting .The clubhouse is very comfortable with good food and welcoming staff.We will recommend to anyone.

A wonderful course with testing greens.I would recommend this course to any golfer.I will be joining next season...no joining fee at present.Try it. You will have a great day out and visitors are made very welcome.

Good golf course that has been in immaculate condition all this season.Greens superb.Food is first class.An ideal venue for visiting parties.We have been 3 times this year and will be back soon.

Played today. Very wet/boggy due to heavy clay soil. Greenkeepers are doing a lot of drainage work and this is sorely needed.

The course has some good holes, particularly the 18th, although there are a number of blind driving holes which can cause difficulty if you are playing the course for the first time.

It would be better to play this course in a dry period when you will not have mud caked up the inside of your trouser legs.

I like this course. Relatively new it has improved dramaticaly. I also just became a member and have played often, everytime it better, the greens a maintained as best they can in this weather, but in summer it is going to be brill. Having prosed over the other negative comments I can only retort that every club has its bad days. The back nine are actually very good and very challenging, and yes this course in years to come will be amazing, remember its only been open since 1997. It has a respectable member list friendly staff and excellent food, in fact the first time i played I got it free because I wanted to try it out before I joined. No other club offered me this and when I played in order "established' courses I was sometimes disappointed. NOT with Dalziel however, what you see is what you get. There is a lot of improvement still going on, so by summer 05 this course is going to rivel the big clubs of the area......

I have to agree with some of the comments about the state of your course we played it recently on a Sunday morning & paid £25 ther were no trollies or buggies to be had the nicest comment I can make is you should have left the cows grazing there as its all its fitted for sorry and I am local very dissapointed

The layout is interesting and challenging and the more I play it the better I like the subtle layout.The greens are a joy to play to and put on.I can thoroughly recommend the course to all golfers and it is a good choice for outings as the clubhouse and food is second to none. Greenkeeping staff are doing great job with presentation of the course.

Played March 2004 in a fourball. Had previously considered booking a game here but had been put off by non-complimentary reports. However, the latest reports seemed to indicate that the course had improved dramatically. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that the course must have been really awful before, because it is none too inspiring now. The newer holes are pretty boring with no character, particularly compared with the old holes, which between tee and green were at least interesting. Winter tees were in operation and they had become little muddy patches making it difficult to maintain a footing, the greens were extremely bumpy. Perhaps we were unlucky playing the course at this time of year and maybe it is a good course to play in the summer (though the "characterless" impression would probably still maintain). If this is truly the best course in Lanarkshire then our group will have to avoid the other courses in that county.

Played this course at end of season and pleasantly surprised at the great condition.A new headgreenkeeper has made a tremendous improvement and the course is a joy to play.Keep up the good work .I will be back with an outing during the winter period.

Played in an outing on 31 August 2003.Had a superb day,good lunch and dinner after the golf.The course was set up very well with good presentation -a credit to the greenkeeping staff.This course must be the best in the Lanarkshire area with a clubhouse,food and friendly service to match any in Scotland

The parkland course is an excellent play for low to mid handicappers.It has tight fairways and undulating greens that are well protected.It is a hidden gem worth seeking out in Lanarkshire.The pleasure of play will be matched by the warmth of the welcome and the great food.We had a great outing and it was good value for money.We will be back.

This must be the most improved course in Scotland, speaking to members they indicated that it had knitted together well during the last 2 years. That does not mean this is an easy test as you are constantly playing holes that are on the limit and you must stay on the fairways. There are some excellent holes with the last a great par 5 my favorite. The greens are a bit inconsistant with the new part of the course having much faster putting surfaces. A great day out and excellent food in the restaurant

Played it once, and never again. As with the other reports, the fact that a new nine holes have been added really does take away from the original.

Members also conveyed their dissapointment at the way the "new nine" have been added - no thought whatsoever.

If you are wanting a good game of golf - suggest you try elsewhere. (Hamilton or Larkhall are close by).

Agree with the review below. A shocking course in respect of the new 9 holes. They are clearly not ready to be used and claiming this is an 18 hole course must be breaking some advertsing code.

The new holes are totally undefined, you will be hard pressed at times to have any idea of what direction and green you should be playing to. Unless it drastically improves don't waste your money. Played July 2001

I played this course recently without knowing that there were 9 new holes just added at the start of the year. I would'nt have bothered with these if I'd known the state they were in. The words "field" & "building site" spring to mind. The original 9 holes are nice enough with a good finishing hole. As for the new 9 I worry that they will never resemble golf holes in the slightest. The rough was waist high in places and this claimed 9 balls in 3 holes between 3 of us. We then sussed it out that the only way not to lose balls was to hit a 6 or 7 iron from the tee - even at a par 5. I would'nt go near the place until it settles & matures considerably. Oh - one complement due here - the sand is lovely.

Three friends and myself visited this course with great expectations and left very dissapointed indeed. The ground would appear to have a serious drainage problem. It was very difficult to find a part of the course that was dry. The fairways are unbelievable muddy, some even waterlogged. To accompany this, our party had to contend with flags missing from several greens which are of a poor standard anyway. As the course has only currently nine holes we decided to call it a day after nine then went to play on another local course. A public course that without doubt put this one to shame. My advice if your in the area and going to play this course, before you part with you money take a walk up to the first tee and try to check out the first fairway.Any sign of mud and forget it. Although to be fair there could be a couple of holes with some potential but unless your wearing wellies, go elsewhere.
