Played the Old Course on a Saturday afternoon in August. Fantastic value at 70 euros.

Lovely course in excellent condition with some very picturesque holes, not as difficult as I expected, although the competition tees looked a hell of a long way back.

The clubhouse is awesome steeped in history!

If there are deals like this around when you visit the area, do you self a favour and book a round.

Played San Roque new course twice in 4 days. First round was a bit ropey but second visit saw me shoot 2 under my handicap! With several wasted shots it really should have been so much better. Definitely Kiawah Island meets St. Andrews here if you can land tee shots on fairway you are usually handed plenty of extra yards roll due to links type fairways. Use of pretty flowers as rough are very misleading for if you go in there it usually spells lost ball! Ask my pal, who with his "power fade" went smelling the blossoms far too often!

Far more interesting to play than many courses here as you can work out shots that use the natural contours and get close without just playing target golf all of the time.

The water hazards do take a litle bit of avoiding especially when a bit of a breeze kicks in. All in all a great course and can't wait for the bermuda grass greens to recover and present a true putting surface. My pal wants to dock me several shots after our last round here. My advice- play it!

Stayed @ San Roque last week and the old course was superb, greens are very fast and punish any poor putting. Also played the New Course (Opened Nov 03) and its very tight and very very good, greens are just as good as the Old course and its funny to see Seve's own tee box on the first Par 3 you encounter. Hotel is fab and staff are excellent - will certainly go back and would reccomend it to anyone!

Playing this course one can see why its the venue for the European Tour Qualifying School - its a superb layout with everything: trees, water, uphill, downhill, and side lies, not to mention its fair share of sand. Inevitably, its long too, even off the yellows (6500 yards or so), and typically for the courses in this part of Spain whilst the rough maybe limited, that's because there's plenty of out of bounds!

My only criticism is the fairways were not in great condition in June this year nor last October when I also visited - but who knows this could be a course policy or a water shortage issue?

Its not cheap at £60+ green fee but then again it is one of my personal top 5 layouts on the coast along with Valderamma, Almenara, Monte Mayor and the Marbella Club Golf Resort (not to be confused with the Marbella Golf Club).

The 19th serves outstanding food too...and the attached suites hotel ain't bad either!

Spent a week here in April. The hotel & course are excellent. The seemingly constant wind surprises most people but makes you realise that the course is designed with that in mind. The front nine gradually prepares you for the more challenging back nine. Club selection off the tee is of paramount importance to avoid cleverly placed hazards and leave achievable approach shots.

I stayed here 4 years ago with my son & we decided it is our favourite course. Returned in Feb 2000 and it is still great!
