Anoreta Golf Player Reports

It's August 2007.I play this course once a year when I visit my father-in- law and this year the course is in the worst shape I've ever seen it.It's a shame as there are hundreds of friendly ex-pats paying yearly subs of around a £1000 who I think are getting ripped off.The practice putting green has been ripped up and left for dead.We teed off at 9.15am and the fairways were so over watered that the members were playing PICK & PLACE...IN SPAIN!Bunkers are full of sand mixed with earth with plenty of little stones. The greens are pitted with dead grass and unrepaired pitch marks and were difficult enough to putt on without having to putt through small puddles in the first 4 holes.Fairways and around the greens are inconsistent in as such as because of the overwatering your ball either plugs or bounces an extra 10 yards when it hits a dry patch. As midday came, the green staff were out cutting the grass....DOH!
This could be a top course as the design is very good but I can see a lot of people leaving due to the poor condition.I think I've played my last round there. You could pay in excess of 40 euros which is way too much.Next door is Baviara,I'll try that one next year.A crying shame.

my husband & I were lucky this year to spend three months in spain. We played Anoreta three times a week. We found the course in excellent condition and the staff both at the clubhouse & in the resturant very friendly & helpful. Our Spanish was laughable but we tried & the appreciated that. They accomodated by suppling clubs to both my son & daughter when they came over when school was out.
A special mention for Miguel in the resturant who went out of his way to be helpful & gave us a very enjoyable experience.
The course is quite a challenge quite narrow fairways and a lot of trees. Keep it straight is easier said than done.
I normally carry my bag but between the heat & the climb found it much more relaxing to have a buggy. I would recomend Anoreta to anyyone in the area to have a go its worth it.
