Betws-y-Coed Golf Club Player Reports

Mighty Mariner (England) 07/05/08

Played Course Mid-April. Beautiful scenery, wonderfully maintained, fairways and greens.

Tees for back 9 are far harder than for the front 9, each member of our party scoring 5-10 shots worse on the second time around.

The course at Betws-y-Coed Golf club is challenging, but very flat. The club itself cannot be held responsible for this, so I direct this particular grumble towards the almighty and request that he use his divine power to build a us a few hills before we return next spring.

I played Betws today, not expecting much due to the recent AWFUL weather. I was totally wrong! The course was in beautiful condition, Fairways nicely striped and shaped which looked very impressive. The Greens were cut and pretty good for the early part of the golfing season. The bunkers had just been topped up with fresh sand which made them stand out, which is important for a course of this nature. The views from the course are nothing short of stunning, it rained for the early part of our round, but as soon as the clouds lifted they revealed amazing surroundings. It`s a course I thoughorly enjoyed. it`s a must play if your in the area.

More a course for the connoisseur than the 'Length is all that counts' brigade. This gem of a course is relatively flat, yet it is surrounded by some of the most mountainous scenery in the UK. The course looks wide open, but beware the rough! It looks innocuous, but will swallow up your ball with ease. Even should you find it, you may not move it too far! The course was in excellent condition and very well presented, with some good par three's. We played in glorious sunshine, and even if your golf may not be too good, the scenery is fantastic. So too is the welcome (Thanks to Pat Rowley). The food was excellent (Thanks to Gill & Barbara). We shall certainly return. Bore Da.(As they say in Wales)
