i played the course on 12th - 13th august 2006 and the greens were in some need of TLC but the rest of the course was fine BIT HILLY IN PLACES.

As for the price you pay to play the course £20 may not be alot but there are far more better course about for a similar price all in all tho its not bad but not great and i would look elsewhere before choosing this one again.

as a group we have stayed at the Bryn Morfydd for3 days - 2 nights, for the last 5 yrs.The course can be quite tough/challenging at times, and the rough a bit unforgiving. The greens have improved and the traps have been re-sanded. Overal the VFM, we have found to be v/g.

The quality of food at the hotel is second to none. The scenery is spectacular (and a RAF flypast is a sight to see)Both David and Sarah (Hotelliers)and their staff have made us very welcome, hence we are returning again this year.

As for the course, you either like it or you don't. It is a challenging course, a lot of holes are played to marker posts, and some, like the 2nd,are a challenge for the big hitters. The 18th is a deceiving par 3 and the 12th is a long par 5.

After all that, if you want to play top class courses, with billiard like grens, fairways with two cuts of rough then you have to pay top clas fees. e believe Bryn Morfydd is exceptional VFM.

A very disapointing day out with regards to the overall upkeep of the course. The greens are of poor standard with some of them not actually green. Its a great shame, as the course layout is a good and fair challenge. It would be a shame to neglect this any further as the potential for this to be a quality course is undoubtedly there.

Played on Sun 24 May 2004. Course just cut. Old grass on fairways and light rough. Found the greens in poor condition (previous hole positions visable) with little definition to where they started off the fairway. Rather a messy course but still challenging. Take plenty of balls as the first two eat them. Beware the 17th. You may need a friend to watch your tee shot and then tell you where the green is. With some good green-keeping and course tendering would be very good. Expensive if you quote 2-4-1. Todays Golfer review June 04 fairly misleading.

Overall this course has a lot of potential that has yet to be fullfilled. Certain tees are very difficult, with the tee of the current 15th hole being immensely sloped, and difficult to play an aggresive tee shot. The lake on this hole is of very poor standard, and requires much attention to look much better than it should. The first 6 holes are of high quality, but after that it somewhat deteriorates. Some of the holes are very punishing, with the current 10th being unforgiving for any wayward tee shot. The most worrying aspect is the standard of the greens, which are bad quality and unchallenging aswell. And another poor aspect is the bunkers, which are nowhere deep and difficult to provide any challenge, they are almost level with the ground and the sand is very hard, which makes it very easy to play out of.

On a positive note, the short duchess course is good for beginners and a good warm course to pracice short play.
