Holyhead Golf Club Player Reports

Visited Holyhead in June 2008 as part of a Golf Break to Anglesey. (also played at Anglesey and Bull Bay)
Holyhead, although relatively short, makes great use of the landscape with holes carved in and around rocky outcrops with an abundance of gorse waiting for any stray shots. The second hole could make or break your round!
The presentation of the course was first class with fast, true greens. We played on a Thursday and virtually had the place to ourselves.
Used an "Anglesey Golf Pass" which is £79 for 5 rounds of golf on the island. It is valid for 12 months and great value given the quality and variety of courses available.

What a great course, well looked after fairways & greens in particularly good condition. They are quite firm, so no "drop n stop".
You need a booklet to help you round as there are a few holes with blind shots, and with the gorse around the course, plenty of lost ball opportunities.
Very enjoyable course to play, good views from some of the elevated tees.

One of the premier courses in North Wales without being too pretentious. Some superb shaped holes designed by one of the old masters - James Braid.
These old established courses can be relied upon to give you an experience not found with so many newly designed tracks.
We have heard many good things about Bull Bay GC also but never got there. Save that for next time we get to Anglesey. We did try the St Deniol course at Bangor. I loved it but my son didn't - probably because I beat him. It was real golf -there were some very interesting holes with good greens and outstanding views.
If you like the flat fields with boring back to back holes don't come to these courses.
