Mold is a fabulous course situated in pleasant rural North Wales.

We played here as a small society (8), arriving on a very brisk Sunday morning, to an extremely warm welcome from the pro & catering staff. The table was laid out in preparation and the breakfast was exceptional (full english in a pasty!)

Mold is a very pleasant but hilly parkland course with each hole possessing its own character. The opener is a fairly simple par 4, but one that requires a certain level of accuracy from tee to green.

Holes to look out for;

5th - Narrow medium length par 4, the drive must be hit long enough so to aviod a blind 2nd. The green is well protected.

6th - Great downhill par 3 into the valley, take one club less otherwise it'll be a diffcult up and down.

7th - Long par 5, the tee shot must go over a hill 50 yards or so in front of the tee, making it quite intimidating for higher handicappers. Longer hitters can reach the green in two as the fairway slopes steeply down around 100 yards in.

12th - Short par 4 enticing longer hitters to go for it. Tee shots are hit from a high tee to a narrow fairway with out of bounds on both sides. An accurate tee shot is a must to have a chance of birdie.

15th - Another good par 5 that runs parellel with the 7th, an uphill tee shot is required to a fairly narrow fairway - beware of the out of bounds all the way down the left. Longer hitters may reach in two as, like the 7th, the fairway slopes toward the green.

16th - Great little par 3, enough club needs to be taken to ensure the green is reached. A possible birdie opportunity however if left short a tricky up and down is required.

All the holes are worthy of a mention but the above do stand out a bit more.

On completion of our round we were welcomed back to the 19th were a couple of cold ones and a discussion about our scores rounded off what was a great day out.

Facilities at the course are a putting green and nets, and a well stocked pro shop however there is no driving range.

The negative points are minimal however we couldn't beleive the proshop didn't have debit/credit card facilities (how do they make large cash sales?!) and the course can be difficult to locate - make sure you plan your journey before setting off.

But don't let this put you off what is a fantastic parkland course.

A pleasant well looked after course with great views,a little bit dangerous though due to fairways being close together,an many blind shots,quite a few from the tee box,heard more than the usual shout of fore today,but if you are fit enough to climb the hills, an dodge the errant ball you will enjoy your round.

played 17.08.04. A beautiful course both to play and to take in the views.Dont be put off by the par 67 and short yardage.This course is a challenge.Hilly terrain means that most shots off fairway require imagination.Fairways are therefore not heavily bunkered but you cant just take a driver on the shorter holes and try to drive the shorter holes.A thinkers course.The greens are quick,subtle and quite difficult to read,but are in superb nick with a true roll and consistency of speed thru the 18 holes.Give it a go. I played once an d cant wait to try and do better next time

Leave your caryy bags at home and rent a buggy or some hiking equipment because mold is a mountaion. The course was in gorgeous condition and is a delight to play but if you are unfit youl be huffing your way all the way around after the 3rd hole.

Very nice and friendly course, well established and offering fine views over to Cheshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire (when the rain isn't coming in horizontally). Although appearing quite short the course offers a good test with many blind tee and approach shots. Has benefited over the past couple of years from excellent green staff and the playing surfaces are generally immaculate.
