Simply superb as a venue, excellent facilities, a friendly welcome, great hotel to stay in and great food too...it's a bit expensive but you get what you pay for!
Course isn't brutal, more subtle undulations than anything, but plenty rough and water which is to be avoided. The 18th is a cracker, 235 yards over water to a sloping, two tiered green. a four is not a bad score there, I can assure you.
In summary, excellent!

I have just had my second visit to St Pierre on a similar package as before. despite a couple of hiccups due to the rain and more rain, there were seven of us there. The Old course was unavailable due to club tournaments, but the Mathern is enough of a challenge. The second day involved playing 2 nines, due to work being carried out. But this did not stop the enjoment. My advice, get yourself here on one of the packages.

25 years ago I saw Greg Norman win the the Dunhill Masters on the Old Course, that was a wonderful day. On the 10/07/2007 courtesy of Lloyds Private Banking I was thrilled to play that same course. My score on the day did not match Greg's ? but my card will be a treasured souvenier to keep. I enjoyed playing every hole and was fortunate enough to finish with a nice par on the eighteenth.

Played the Old course in glorious sunshine and would agree with previous comments. Although well manicured a number of holes weren't particularly memorable. The finishing stretch, however, was superb. The 18th into the wind is impossible to reach for most! Sat nav in buggies was very useful (for yardages, not finding your way!).Staff very friendly and would return. Bar very expensive!

Very nice course indeed,
Quite tight in places though.
Some of the par threes are a bit make or break but a very good looking course with great facilities.
The 18th is a craking finisher, but is like I say it is either make or break !! I broke.
Would like to play in the summer as it was raining when I played a few months back as in many of these reviews !!

The old course was a pleasure, with the closing four holes as tough as any I have played. The condition was great with the greens true and of good fast pace. The Mathern is just a golf course of no real note exept the greens arn't bad.
