This is a nice parkland course that gives value for the membership fees. The greens are all flat, the bunkers are ok or been left to grow over, the drainage ditches are a danger (the pipes have holes in - watch you dont fall into one) and are probably the dryest part of the course! I agree with another reviewer who says that they are pointless and turn holes into par 5's.
In the summer the course is fine, unfortunately the rough is left to grow so it ends up being waste high.....so dont leave the fairway.
Other reviewers have said the drainage has improved, total rubbish. In 2007 the front 9 was closed most winter and new temp greens were created...or rather a bit of soggy ground mowed.
I recommend you play the course in the summer but forget the winter, if you do get on you will come off knee high in mud!!!!!!
BUT, for 400 quid it is well worth starting off on - you can always move on if you want to play all year round!

A fairly nice Parkland course only spoilt by the deep drainage ditches that force you to play par 4's like par 5's on occasion.
During the summer this could well be one of the best courses around. The greens are ok but almost all are flat so putting is almost always straight at the hole. The bunkers are well thought out and will catch you if not straight.
The draw back is the winter, the course turns into a bog and normally only 9 holes are playable with temp tees and greens, best avoid at all costs. (may as well fill in the drainage ditches - they dont work).
The membership is 400 pounds, so treat it as playable for 7 months of the year - still good value as it is half the price of other courses and normally Nov, Dec and Jan are out for most golfers.

Most comments on this site are now completely out of date.
Over the last 2 seasons there have been phenomenal changes and as for this year - what a difference!
Greens are excellent, definition to fairways and surrounds is great and the condition of the Course now matches the fantastic layout. All bunkers have bee re-worked and are in super condition. They have also recently completed a buggy track around the entire back 9. Somebody has spent some serious money on this place.
Apparently they have a 9 hole beginner course opening next season as well.

my friend and I regulary visit here and the improvement over the last year or so has been tremendous, the greens are now very good and nothing like they were a few years ago,the course is quite challenging to us as we are both 22 handicap, its good value for money especialy on a monday when its £10.

I have been a member of this club for the past 2yrs, and fell that the comments on this site are outdated and untrue!
Yes the coarse can be wet in the winter but much has been done in the last year or so to improve the drainage. The greens are 100% better than when I first joined and improving all the time.
It is true that the bunkers need much improving, but again while they still seem poor to most other clubs, work is currently being taken to improve the condition.
Talking with visitors to the club often helps gain an insight as to the real condition of a club, and the feedback I have had, has always been positive.
Come and se for your self, it is always the best way to judge things.

A complete bog in winter, though this is not uncommon in this part of the world. Neverthesless, having played here several times over the last 18 months, I feel the place is going down hill. The greens look sad with bare patches revealing black soil in places. Worse still are the bunkers, which haven't seen fresh sand or weedkiller in ages. Its a pity because the place has such potential. Rumour has it the newer course at Garnant is in far better condition.
