The setting of the course is superb, but the condition could be better. The rough gets thick quickly and the clover can swallow balls, so bring plenty of them!. The greens are very slow and patchy. Anyone can play there so be prepared for long rounds. Strangely they have no 'pro' shop, just a shop with a few basic items. The food is good, but there are plans to redevelop the clubhouse so check before you go to see if they are doing food.

as a member of shirenewton i must say we have had some problems in the past but we are now on right road the course is looking very good the bar is now open from 11.00 to 11.00 with food being served until 09.00pm and the viws are spectacular well worth a visit.

A very enjoyable and well run course. I played there last March and after starting off with two straight forward holes, found the 3rd and 4th quite testing. The 3rd being a par 3 across the valley from a raised tee. Theres not alot of room for error with cub selection on this hole. I'm looking forwards to playing there again with our society this March.

I played this course yesterday with some friends. It was very hot indeed. The course is excellent even though the greens were very slow and therefore took some getting used to.
Its pretty hilly so we invested in a buggy. A wise move especially in view of the heat.
I would highly recommend this couse. Excellent value. Stunning views. Very interesting layout. Extremely peaceful. Its well maintained and a credit to all the greenkeepers and staff. Only one very small gripe - no food after 3.00pm.

Ive played at shirenewton for the past 3 years as a visitor, every sunday summer & winter. I rate the course very highly and have never become bored with the challenges that are ever present. The greens are the best ive ever seen lately and alot of hard work has gone into them.
I would recommend shirenewton to anyone, the course is excellent and the veiws are fantastic.

I am a local member there and it is a great course. There is a new pro who is doing a top job, the catering is better than my mums cooking. If you want a day out come here
